History

History

With 100 ha of premium grapevines on the Taranga property, the Oliver family has over 50 blocks representing different grape varieties, clones, soil types & vine ages. Each vintage, different varieties & blocks will show their strength and from this has been born the ‘SMALL BATCH’ range. Made in small batches of less than two tonnes, these wines have been handcrafted to speak of both the variety and the vintage in which they have been produced.

Wine & Vintage

Wine & Vintage

A native of Sardinia in Italy, Vermentino is generating a lot of interest in the wine community, due to its heat tolerance and ability to produce beautiful crisp and fresh wines, perfect for the Australian palate. We can’t wait to pair this wine with freshly caught King George Whiting from our local beaches. Made with indigenous yeast and no oak.

Aroma

Aroma

A field of flowering clover, preserved lemon over freshly shucked oysters, white nectarine, wet river stone and a whisper of sea spray.

Palate

Palate

Bright lemon zest and crunchy natural acidity meet a salty sea breeze. Lively citrus and a mouth-watering saline line are balanced by juicy white peach, lemon sherbet and an almond meal richness. Powdery texture and bright natural acidity carry the wine to a long, savoury finish. Pour generously alongside fish and chips, grilled prawns or anything that once swam.

This lands at modest alcohol, giving it a charmingly light-weighted, tangy appeal. It’s got lift and aromatic intensity, so distinctly its own profile, with white florals, delicate citrus blossom notes, lemon leaves, sun-dried linen, sea spray, red apple skin and fresh chamomile. It’s got a lager-like, yeasty, beer-y thing going on, too. Such freshness and zip, such elegant persistence. Tasted on the last day of winter, but spring has arrived. A delight. 95pts

Sea breeze in a glass. This Oliver's Taranga Vermentino screams for sunshine and a spot by the water. Lemons, lemon juice and lemon pith kick things off, followed by a sherbety tang that gives the palate a lovely little jolt. Bright, cleansing acidity keeps everything crisp and zippy, while a touch of lemongrass brings a subtle herbal edge. Underneath it all sits a gentle mineral undertow and a refreshing waft of sea spray. Fine texture adds just enough shape without getting in the way of its effortless freshness. Clean, vibrant and seriously refreshing, yes please! 92pts
