NEW RELEASE

2023 The Hunt for Mrs Oliver Fiano Sparkling

$70.00 / bottle

Who said Fiano couldn’t sparkle? Meet our limited edition 2023 The Hunt for Mrs Oliver Sparkling Fiano — a wine inspired by Marjorie Oliver (née Hunt), our much-loved family matriarch, and a woman who had an incredible knack for making everyone around her feel cared for.

Made from 100% Fiano using the Méthode Traditionnelle, this elegant sparkling spent more than 30 months ageing on lees, building layers of citrus, golden apple, toasted brioche and delicate savoury complexity. Fresh, fine and beautifully creamy, it finishes with bright citrus acidity and a long, mineral edge. The beautiful new label is filled with intricate illustrations and little details that tell Marjorie’s story — a fitting tribute to the woman behind the wine. Every time we pop a bottle, we celebrate everything she was.

History

History

Marjorie Oliver (nee Hunt) was our grandmother and family matriarch. This wine was inspired by her amazing ability to make us all feel so loved. She kept us fed, looked after us when sick, never forgot the hot water bottle, ironed our undies, mended and knitted us socks, collected flowers and feathers, and was forever writing us little notes cut out of the back of old envelopes with pinking shears. Every time we pop a bottle, we celebrate everything she was.

The Hunt for Mrs Oliver 2023 is made via ‘Methode Traditionelle’, which means that it is bottle fermented, so that the bubbles are created in the bottle during a secondary fermentation. With more than 30 months aging on yeast lees, we hope you enjoy sharing with your friends as much as we did making it. Who said Fiano couldn’t sparkle?

Aroma

Aroma

Lemongrass, ruby grapefruit and golden apple mingle with toasted pine nuts, baked pastry and a hint of lychee. Chalky minerality and a touch of sea spray add a lovely freshness.

Palate

Palate

Fine and elegant, with a delicate bead and a deliciously creamy texture. Lemon curd, lemon meringue and crisp apple mingle with toasted brioche, nutty Fiano character and a savoury lick of chèvre. Extended time on lees brings depth and complexity, while bright citrus acidity keeps everything fresh and beautifully balanced. Long, mineral and wonderfully moreish, this is Fiano dressed up in its party best.

Reviews

“Free-run juice only, settled and cooled overnight, then a slow cool ferment; secondary fermentation in bottle, resting on lees from April ‘20 until disgorging in September ‘23; dosage of 4g/L with barrel-aged fiano to top. Elegant, finely fruitful and expressly fresh and fragrant, with lemon curd, baked puff pastry, crisp golden apple, chalk and an ozone sea-spray quality. This really is quite a lovely thing, joyously flavoured but balanced and mineral of feel.” - 93 pts. Marcus Ellis, Halliday Wine Companion (2020 Vintage)
