2022 Shiraz
$32.00 / bottle
Shiraz is what the Oliver’s love and it is in Shiraz that they trust. A full-bodied, rich wine; dark chocolate and mocha notes fill the nose, while the palate is all mulberries, dutch liquorice and cacao. It will reward aging, just as the same sweet patch of dirt has rewarded the Oliver family for generations.

History
Made exclusively from our Taranga vineyard, the 2022 Shiraz shows all of the delicious flavours that you have come to know and love. Made from vines aged 15 to 70 years old, our Taranga estate Shiraz always delivers.
Aroma
Bright mulberry and blackberry on the nose, dark chocolate and mocha notes. All the aroma you have come to know and love from our trusted McLaren Vale Shiraz.
Palate
Coffee grinds, chocolate nibs meld seamlessly with mulberry and blackberry, plus dashings of star anise, cedar and dark chocolate. The palate is full and generous, with layers of fruit and fine but plentiful tannins framing the finish.
Wine & Vintage
2022 was another cracking vintage in McLaren Vale. A long, cool ripening period and no heatwaves meant that we had plenty of opportunity to ripen the Shiraz perfectly.
The Year That Continued
We are not usually one to brag, but in 2022, we were on fire! And when I say we, we really mean the cellar door team. For those who have visited, you know how good they are, but external recognition is always nice to receive. They won the Great Wine Capitals Best of Wine Tourism Award, were awarded the Best Large Cellar Door by Gourmet Wine Traveller and took out both the Wine Communicators Australia best cellar door section and overall trophy for the Best wine communicators in the whole country! They also manage to maintain an impressive 4.9 stars on Google reviews and are all round legends. Make sure you pop in next time you are in the area to test out their award winning service for yourself.

Reviews
Picked from eight blocks, some fruit cold soaked and some with extended macerations, matured in hogsheads and puncheons, 20% new. The deft blending across blocks of varying ages, with nuanced ferments and oak matched to fruit, results in a wine of fruitful presence, depth, balance and admirable freshness. Ripe red berries, dark plum, soused cherries, blackberries, iron and dusty earth, with a salted bitter chocolate note on the palate, oak marshalling drive but a relative bystander, tannins the right amount of dry. 92pts
